Get Rid of Fat, But Not Flavor

Published by kitchencents at 8:00 am under grocery shopping Edit This

I need to eat a low-fat diet.  It’s not because I’m fat, it’s because I don’t have a gall bladder.  If I have too much fat, I’m bowing to the porcelean god for 24 hours.  Needless to say, I’m pretty serious about keeping the fat out of my diet.

I have a secret weapon.  If I’m making a fatty soup or working with fatty hamburger, I add this secret weapon.  It soaks up the fat, it’s really healthy, it blends in very well, and it’s very inexpensive.  It comes in many different varieties, and I’m very picky about which variety I use.  It does have a side-affect, but your body adjusts to it after two weeks.

Have you guessed what it is yet?  Beans, to be specific, black beans, pinto beans, and great northern beans.  I use those three because they have a silky smooth texture that you can hide easily, unlike the other varieties.  The flatulence subsides after two weeks.

I add a handful of dried beans to anything you have to cook all day and I mash pinto beans into hamburger.  Over the next few days, I’m going to go over different uses of beans and their benefits.
